Mis colegas del barrio/ My neighborhood's brothers

Hola amigos,

Hoy os voy a presentar a mis nuevos colegas del barrio. Ya os he contado un poco por donde vivo así que ahora les toca a ellos. Los conocí en el jardin de mi casa, al principio costo un poco cojerles confianza, pero ahora somos como hermanos. 

Hi friends,

Today I will introduce you to my new neighborhood's brothers. I have told a bit of my district so now is their turn. I met them in my garden, initially was difficult take them confidence, but now we are like friends.

El primero de todos se llama 'Pardy', lo bautizamos así porque tiene un pelaje pardo mezclado con blanco, una monada. Es muy cariñoso, solo quiere que le den mimitos, aunque es muy valiente, no hay quien le vacile y defiende su territorio con uñas y dientes.

The first of all is called 'Pardy', we named just like that for their brown fur mixed with write, so beautiful. Is very kindly, always want that give they cuddling, although is very brave, nobody vacillate them and defend their territory fiercely.

El segundo, pero no significa que por eso sea menos, se llama 'Vakota', cuando lo veais lo entendereis perfectamente. Este es un poco mas interesado, al principio, cuando te ve por primera vez te hace la ola si hace falta, su palabra favorita es 'miiiu' y le gusta que le den azotitos en el culete, pero no penseis mal mentes perversas. Una vez te saluda ya busca su interes, que normalmente suele ser comida, le encanta comer, te venderia por un trozo de pollo.

The second, but is alike important of the first, is called 'Vakota', when you see you understand perfectly. This  is a bit interested, initially when he see you is very happy and his favourite word is 'miiiiu' and he likes that you whip his ass, but not thinking bud dirty minds. When he saw you hello he look for his interest, usually is food, he love eat, would buy you for a piece of chicken.

Para terminar os presentaré al siguiente miembro, aunque con este tengo menos confianza, pero tiempo al tiempo, en unos meses seremos uña y carne. Se llama 'el Ardy' y es un poco desconfiado, es muy rápido y no se casa con nadie, pero creo que puedo conseguir que acabe comiendo de mi mano.

Finally I want show you the last member, although with this I have less familiarity, but step by step, in a few months we will have flesh and bone. His name is 'Ardy' and is a bit suspicious, very fast and really independent, but I think that I can do that he eat of my hand.

Estos son mis colegas mas cercanos, pero somos más los que nos juntamos en mi jardín, faltan zorrito, el pajaro y palomo, seguramente en proximas entregas podré mostraros a estos últimos.

This are my neighborhood's brothers, but we are more in my garden, lack it 'Zorrito', the 'Pajaro' and the 'Palomo', surely in a few week I can to show them.

Hola Amigos, 

Hoy os voy a contar un poco acerca de la zona donde vivo Surrey Quays, es una zona residencial de Londres situada al sud-este del centro, zona dos del trasporte de Londres, perteneciente al concejo de Southwark. Los concejos son los distritos en los que se divide la ciudad de Londres tiene un total de 33. Si somos realmente extrictos mi casa pertenece a otro concejo, Lewisham, pero justo en la calle de al lado ya es Southwark, digamos que estamos en la frontera.

Today I will tell a little bit of the district where I live Surrey Quays, is a residential zone of London located in South-East of the center, zone two in transport of London, belonging to Southwark council. The councils are the districts that London are divided, has 33 in total. If we are really strict my home belongs to other council, Lewisham, but just in the next street is Southwark council, we say that we are in the border.

La historia de mi barrio es la siguiente, estos meandros que hace el Tamesis por estas latitudes eran los muelles de carga y descarga de todas las mercancias con las que ha comerciado Londres con el mundo durante los siglos.

The history of my neighborhood is the next, this meanders that the Thames do in this latitude were the comercial docks of all merchandise that London has trated for centuries.

Si os fijais en el mapa de los muelles, podemos ver como cada uno tiene nombre de una zona del mundo, como Canada, Russia, Greenland. Esto era porque en ese muelle venian las mercancias de esa parte del mundo, hay otros que se llaman India, Jamaica y así con todas las zonas que comenciaban. De ahí forjaron su Imperio, del comercio.

If you can see the map of the docks, we can see as each dock has the name of the a part of the world, like Canada, Russia, Greenland. This was why in that dock came the merchandise of this place, there are others like India, Jamaica and more as all place that they traded. From there they forged his Empire, from the trade.

Finalmente quedaron en deshuso, a principios de los años 80 un plan de rejuvenecimiento de la zona se acordo rellenar la mayoria de los diques, hasta la situación actual, para construir viviendas, un centro comercial y de ocio. Nuestra casa no esta en la zona rellenada, de hecho ya estaba construida, es de finales del siglo XIX, 1898, seguramente viviria la gente que trabajaba en los muelles.

Finally fell into disuse, in the first 80's a rejuvenation plan agreed fill up most of docks, to the current situation, to build housing, shopping centre and leisure park. Our house is not in the fill up zone, it were build, is of the final of 19 century, 1898, surely would live the people that work in the docks.

La ubicación de nuestra casa está bastante bien, tenemos a 10 minutos caminando el overground (metro), a 5 el LIDL para comprar y a 10 TESCO (similar a Carrefour), a 5 en bici una biblioteca nueva y la estación de underground (metro) Canada Water. Nuestra calle en particular es muy tranquila, solo nos perturba de vez en cuando el camión de la basura que, aqui pasa una vez por semana y por la mañana a eso de las 7 o 8 de la mañana, muy pronto.

The location of our home is quite well, we are to 10 minutes walking of the overground station, to 5 of the LIDL for buy food and 10 to TESCO ( is like Carrefour), to 5 minutes in bicycle a new library and underground station of Canada Water. Our street is very quiet, only once a week the rubbish truck came on the morning in that 7 or 8am, very early.

Por lo que respecta a la gente que habita en mi barrio, como yo, tenemos bastante mezcla, no se estadisticamente los porcentajes reales, pero tenemos algo de ingleses nativos, europeos y bastante población de origen africano, también asiaticos y indios, aunque estos últimos en menos medida. En definitiva, una mezcla cultural como en todo Londres.

Regarding to the people that live in my neighborhood, like I, we have quite mix, I don't know exacly the real percentages, but have a bit of English, European and quite people that African origin, also Asian and Indian, although these latter to a lesser extent.

Hola Amigos,

Ahora toca hablar un poquito de Londres, capital de Reino Unido, no es lo mismo que Inglaterra, y del antiguo Imperio Británico. Es una ciudad grandísima, la más grande de Europa, y una de las mas importantes del mundo. A nivel de oportunidades de desarroyo profesional los sectores más importantes son las hosteleria y el sector financiero, aunque tiene oportunidades en todos los campos.

Now I'm speaking a bit of London, United Kingdom's metropolis, it's not the same that England, and old British Empire. It's a very big city, the bigest of Europe, and one of the most important of the world. Has different kind of professional opportunities, the most important sectors are hospitality and banking, although has opportunities in all sectors.

La ciudad de Londres debe su nombre y creación a los romanos, en el siglo I d. C. fundaron Londinium. A lo largo de su historia ha tenido desastres importantes que asolaron la ciudad, en 1666 el gran incendio que destruyó la mayor parte, ya que en esa época casi todos los edificios eran de madera, tardaron diez años en reconstruirla, a partir de entonces que se contruye con ladrillo o con piedra. El otro gran desastre fué el bombardeo por parte de la Luftwaffe, la aviación alemana de la II guerra mundia, llamado Blitz.


The London City is named and created by the roman empire, in the first century after Christ, they founded Londinium. Throughout of history it had important disasters that devastated the city, in 1666 the Great Fire that destroyed most of the city, as in this age almost all buildings were made with wood, took it ten years to rebuild, thereafter all buildings are made of stone or bricks. The other great disaster was bombing for the Luftwaffe, nazi air force in the II world war, called Blitz.

Dejando la historia a un lado, Londres es una ciudad dinámica, en continuo cambio y con una multiculturalidad envidiable. Podemos encontrar en esta ciudad más del cincuenta por ciento de las nacionalidades del mundo en una misma ciudad, imaginaros, casi que puedes viajar por el mundo sin moverte de una ciudad. A quien le guste comer, como es mi caso, gracias a esa multiculturalidad existe una oferta gastronómica alucinante, por ejemplo, hasta llegar aqui nunca conocí la cocina hindú y ha sido todo un descubrimiento, os la recomiendo, eso sí no lo pidais picante o no habrá dios que se lo coma.

Leaving aside history, London is a dynamic city, in change continuously and with a enviable multiculturalism. We can find in this city more than fifty per cent of all nationalities of the world, imagine, you can travel around the world without moving into the city. If you like a good food, like me, thanks to multiculturalism exist an amazing gastronomic variety, for exemple, untill come here I never try the indian cuisine and was an interesting discovery, I recommend, be careful with the spicy because nobody will can eat your food.

Desde el punto de vista del turista Londres tiene mucha variedad para visitar y la mayoria de las cosas importantes son gratis, aunque también es verdad que te puedes gastar el dinero que tengas o quieras, está disponible para todos los bolsillos. Lo más caro es el vuelo,  los hoteles y el transporte, pero el resto es asequible, por ejemplo todos los museos nacionales son gratis, la mayoria de iglesias importantes, tipo abadia de Westminster se puede visitar los dias que hay misa, de hecho tengo un anecdota muy bueno al respecto. Para concluir deciros que Londres es una ciudad muy bonita a la par que dura, pero que no debes dejar de ver, porque lo merece.

From the tourist point of view London have a lot of variety to visit and most of them are free, although is true that you can spend all money that you have or you want, is available for all the pockets. The most expensive things are thte fly, the hotels and the transport, but the rest is affordable, such as the national museums are free, the most important churches like Westminster Abbey is free the days of ceremony, in fact I have a little history of them. Finally I want say you that London is a beautiful city at the same time hard, but you should not see it, because he deserves it.

El clima ingles/ The English weather

Hola amigos,

Hoy voy a hablar del famoso clima inglés, conocido también como Atlántico, similar al del norte de España. Para un persona acostumbrada al clima mediterraneo como yo, 300 dias de sol al año y lluvias generalmente en Primavera y Otoño y a modo torrencial, el clima por estas latitudes es bastante diferente. Casi siempre está nublado, llueve bastante y hace frio. En la época que vinimos, principios de Marzo, en Valencia estabamos rozando los 20ºC, mientras que aqui teniamos entre 4ºC y 8ºC de máxima. La verdad que la aclimatación fué dura, también según los expertos, el Abril de 2013 fué uno de los más frios en 50 años, nosotros vimos nevar tres o cuatro veces en un mes y apenas vimos el sol.

Today I'm speaking about the famous English weather, also know like Atlantic weather, similar to north of Spain. For a person acclimated to Mediterranean weather like me, 300 days sunny per year and torrential rains in Spring and Fall, the weather in this latitude is really different.  Mostly is cloudy, raining and cold. The season in we came to London, first week of March, in Valencia we had 20ºC, whereas that here had between 4ºC and 8ºC of maximun. The acclimatization was so hard, also according to experts said, April of 2013 was one of coldest in 50 years ago, we saw snowing three or four times in a month and just a couple of days we saw the sun.

Pero si la hay una característica importante de la especie humana, es la aclimatación a casi cualquier medio, por tanto, a todo se acostumbra uno. De hecho me gusta que llueva, pero lo que peor llevo es el frio, aunqué ahora, principios de Mayo se lleva bién. Por otra parte, lo bueno de este clima es que al haber tanta abundancia de agua hay vida por todas partes.

But if the human species has a important property is the acclimatization almost any means, therefore get used to everything. In fact I like when is raining, but the worst thing for me is the cold, although now in first of May is better. Otherwise, a good thing of this wheather is the great amount of water makes that the life grown up everywhere.

Ahora entiendo como en los paises con este clima cuando tienen un dia soleado lo aprovechan como si se acabara el mundo, toda la gente se va a la infinidad de parques que tenemos en Londres, hacen barbacoas en sus jardines y disfrutan hasta del último rayo de sol se va.

Now I understand as countries with this weather when had a sunny day draw on as the world ends, all the people goes to the parks that we have in London, make barbacues in their gardens and enjoy untill the last sunlight goes out.

Academias gratuitas/ Free English School

Hola amigos,

Hoy voy a contar mi experiencia con la escuela de inglés. Pues bién, es una escuela gratuita, escuela de adultos, subvencionada por el gobierno, con un total de 4 horas semanales repartidas en dos clases de dos horas, Lunes y Martes de 18:00 a 20:00, en principio no pinta mal, no?

Fuí la primera semana de estar en Londres, sobre el 5 o 6 de Marzo para que me hicieran la prueba de nivel, nos dieron cita para finales de Marzo para la prueba. Nos presentamos allí, Elisa y yo, hacemos la prueba y yo consigo entrar en un grupo de mi nivel, de hecho querian que empezara ese mismo dia, como no estaba preparado dije que volvería mañana. Hasta aqui todo normal, ahora empieza la odisea, me presento al dia siguiente, y con mi inglés de la Albufera, le digo al recepcionista que tenia clase, comprueba unas cosas y me dice que no hay clase hasta el 15 de Abril, por vacaciones de Pascua y demás. El 15 cuando ya iba a empezar, recibo un sms de la escuela que no hay clase, que mi profesor Adul está enfermo y no puede ser, buf!! Pero no termina así, sigo recibiendo el mismo sms durante dos semanas, hasta este Lunes, ayer, que por fin tuve la primera clase, con una sustituta, nativa por cierto y una clase muy dinamica la verdad. Pues nada, hoy salgo de trabajar y me dejan salir hantes por la academia y cuando miro mi movil a que no sabeis que? Otra vez el maldito sms, no hay clase, ohhhhh!! Por lo menos ya no pone nada de Abul, se ve que ha pasado a la historia.

En definitiva, un desastre, es lo que tiene el buscar una academia gratis, que son unos impresentables, como dice un dicho: 'lo barato al final sale caro'.

Ya estoy buscandome una de pago, por que sino......



Hello my friends,

Today I want to say you my experience with the English school. Well, It's a free school, It's an adult school, subsidized for the goverment, 4 hours per week, 2 class of 2 hours, Monday and Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, for the beginning everything is okay.

I came the first week to be in London, between 5th or 6th of March to do a level test, They gave us appointment to last days of March. We went there, Elisa and me, We did the test level and I got a place in a class of my level, They told me to start the same day, but I'm not ready, I came back tomorrow. Untill here everything is alrigtht, now start the odissey, I came next day to the school with my English of  'la Albufera', when I arrived I told to the recepcionist that I had class this day, He checked my information and told me that my class not will start untill 15th of April because of Holy Week and Bank Week. The 15th when I came to start I recived a missage of the school that the class was cancelled because my teacher Abul not be able to teach, ohhh man!! But this isn't the finish, during two weeks I decived the same message to cancel the class, to this Monday, Yesterday, that at last I had my first class, with a substitute teacher and the class was very dynamic and funny. Well, today I finish to work early because I come to the English School, when I'm outside of the work I look my phone and that you know that? I recived the same message of always.

Finally, the free English class are a disaster, as the byword say: ' the cheap things finally are expensive '.

I'm looking for a pay class because otherwise.......
